Meet the Seattle Girl Friends!
Linda Dunn Gillis: was installed as a Girl Friend by the Albany Chapter in 1989. Linda founded the Seattle Chapter of in 2006. She has served many positions in the local Chapter; and has served as National Secretary from 2011-2013; and is currently the National Vice President. Linda was married to BF Clarence C. Gillis for 41 years. Linda has 2 sons, Geoffrey and Quinn-Cameron, and a brand new grandson. Linda was a Dental Hygienist for 45 years and recently retired.
Sheila Pitre Holmes is a charter member of the Seattle chapter. She is a retired registered nurse, married to Carlton A. Holmes for 33 years a retired aeronautical structures engineer. Mother of three, Jamila Garrett Bell, Marilyn Holmes (California Chapter) and Carlton Holmes III. Proud grandmother of five granddaughters and 1 grandson. She keeps herself busy currently serving on a non-profit board, participating in quilting association makings quilts for the elderly, gardening and reading.
Bernetta is a charter member of Seattle Chapter of Girl Friends Inc. She currently works a support staff for a local Catholic School. Married to Andrew Branch for 32 years and the very proud mother of seven children, grandmother to eleven and has four great grandsons and one great granddaughter. In her spare time she makes jewelry, enjoys quilting and playing/reading with the grandchildren.
GF Dr. Pollene Speed McIntyre is a charter member of the Seattle Chapter. She is married to BF Dr. George T. McIntyre and they have two daughters Kari and Kiara. The Family owns a dental practice; Rainier Family Dentistry and GF Pollene is also a faculty member at the University Of Washington School Of Dentistry. Donella Goudeau is a charter member of the Seattle chapter. She is currently enjoying retirement from investment firm Morgan Stanley. She is married to BF Joseph Goudeau and they have two grown children and two beautiful grandchildren. She has served on numerous non-profit boards and loves volunteering and giving back to the community. She enjoys spending leisure time with family and friends. She belongs to a book club and enjoys reading and getting together with her book club friends.
Girl Friend Johnnie Dew-Follings was installed into the Seattle Chapter of Girl Friends as a Founding Member. She Retired from Delta Airlines after 36 years of service. On the board Of a Non Profit Organization. Johnnie grew up in Berkeley California, and relocated to Seattle with her Airline Career. Rosie is a patient wife and patient mom to a husband of more than 35 years and to three adult children, Ted Jr, Cameron and Colby, who are twins. Recently her son Cameron got married and bless mom and dad with identical twin girls, Ryan and Rielly!!...Rosie spends her time counting down to retirement, and communicating with her grannies via fancy IT programs. Rosie is a Charter Member of Seattle Chapter of Girl Friends.
She is a retired interior design consultant, event specialist. She is a native of Pensacola Florida but has been in Seattle for over 20 years. She is married and has three children and nine grandchildren. She is actively involved in the community and serves in several non-profit organizations including UNCF, American Diabetes Association, Seattle YMCA and Senior Services. She enjoys boating, traveling, and enjoying God's beautiful creation throughout the world.
Melva became a Girl Friend in 1998 while living in Westfield, MA. She's a retired educator of 41 years, working most of those years in Kindergarten. She and Boy Friend Ronald are proud parents of two sons and four grandchildren. In her free time, she volunteer at Prayer Tower Christian Academy working with 3rd to 8th graders in computers as well as working with two other non-profit organizations that also believe in giving back to the community
Sebrena Chambers became a Girl Friend in 2007. She is a Division Director at the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, with executive leadership responsibilities for the Strengthening Division. Sebrena is past president of the Tacoma Urban League Guild and a member of the United Way of Pierce County board. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She is the proud mother of daughter Tiye, son-in law Brandon and two beautiful grandchildren Nathan and Nia.
Judith, has been a member of the Girl Friends since 2009. A native Seattlelite, Judith worked as a Seattle Municipal Court Judge from 1991 after following a citywide write-in campaign. She was the 2nd Black female judge in the State of Washington. She retired in 2016. She has been on the board for such organizations as the Girl Scouts, Farestart, and Boys and Girls Club. Judith is the proud grandmother of two boys, sings in church and community choirs and enjoys beading and photography.
Originally from Kansas City, MO, Ramona has lived in Seattle 20+ years. She has two lovely daughters and is engaged to Oliver Isaac. She is an Elementary School Teacher and was formerly with IBM and the City of Seattle. She became a Girl Friend in 2009 and is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Jack and Jill. Inc, Ebony Book Club, and various educational boards and affiliations. She loves outdoor activities and traveling is her passion.
Girl Friend Cynthia has been a Girl Friend since 2009 and serves on the Technology committee. She considers herself an Aging Enthusiast and the host of a radio talk show called Living it Up After 50. She also owns a consulting firm in Seattle, WA and has served on several local and state boards and advisory committees. GF Cynthia is single with three children and nine grands.
Deryl Brown-Archie has been a member of the Seattle Girl Friends since 2011. She is married to her soulmate who showed up late in her life. She works as an attorney for the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, focusing on business operations after spending several years as corporate counsel as General Counsel for KPS Health Plans and Deputy General Counsel for Premera. She enjoys her civic involvement which has included service as immediate past President of the Greater Seattle Chapter of The Links, Inc.
Theresa Britt Hazard Launched a professional Organizing company "An Uncluttered Mind " in Seattle 2007. Awards received top organizer rated by clients 2009 'elite service and Best organizer company for 2014 .The company is a coaching and educational company, specializing in working with individuals that enjoying collecting many items. Nina was a charter member of the San Diego Chapter of the Girl Friends and transferred to Seattle in 2015. She is married to the love of her life Barry Jennings, and together they have five children. By day, she is an engineering psychologist and builds software for a major technology company. By night, she is an NAACP Image Award Nominated Writer, award winning filmmaker, playwright and speaker. She has authored over 17 written works and counting.
Lisa Magruder was born in Pittsburgh but was raised in Ballard and is a long time Seattlelite. She loves to have a good time and some of her favorite activities are going to out to comedy clubs, listening to live music, dancing, hanging out with friends and just enjoying herself.
Nancy Stephens was born and raised in Seattle but once lived in Berkeley California and Atlanta Georgia. Nancy and her husband Stillman are both active, very friendly people and love having fun. She has been to PTRs, Derby Day, the Christmas party, and the get acquainted luncheon. Socially, she is active with First AME church, is active in Rhinestones organization and is a member of an organization called the “fight club” which is a social group for young professionals who move to Seattl
Donna Jordan-Taylor has a warm personality and an always positive, upbeat attitude that communicates her love of people and easily fosters friendship. She has been active and served on the executive boards in both her Jack and Jill and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority chapters, and generously lends her support to others’ causes.
Ida Hooks is the trainer of Marriott Hotel H/R department. She loves to have fun, a team player ,enjoys others, likes planning events and entertaining in her home. Dr. Kimberly A. Bell is a healthcare leader with over 20 years of experience solving challenging problems in a variety of settings. She is very well known and respected in the medical profession. Jenea Williams-Willis is the mother of four, one of which is a future Girlfriend and the daughter of Girlfriend Linda Taylor, She is a licensed cosmetologist, and an educator for Evergreen Beauty College. GF Jenea loves crafts, quilting, swimming and street fairs.She currently teaches Sunday School at First AME Church.
